Lessons and clinics
We hold instruction from local and visiting instructors throughout the year, most of our lessons are held at the Indoor Riding School at Halkirk during the winter months. We hold lessons to suit a variety of levels, from novice horses and riders through to more experienced.
Monthly Instruction 2017
We usually hold one instruction weekend per month between September and April. Lessons are available for all levels of horse and rider, and we try our best to match abilities in each group lesson. Please check the calendar page or Facebook to see who is teaching and when.
If you would like to attend, please visit our online bookings page or print out the instruction request forms on the downloads page and return it to the instruction secretary with your payment 1 WEEK BEFORE the instruction date. Texts/emails for lessons will not be accepted. Payment must be sent with instruction form. Lessons will be first come first served, with lesson allocation set at a maximum of 2 lessons over the weekend per person, if available. To be fair to everyone, we ensure there will be a maximum of 4 riders per lesson. Some weekends are open to both Senior and Junior members, please check the calendar for details.
Annual Senior Instruction Weekend (formerly RC Camp)
An intensive weekend of 3 lessons per horse and rider (and lunch povided on both days) we like to hold this on grass each year before our Annual Open Show, however due to ground conditions this year it was held at the Indoor and Outdoor Schools at Halkirk.
Evergreen is a section of the Riding Club that caters for the novice or non-competitive horse and rider. We hold one Evergreen lesson day a month (usually the 2nd Sunday of every month) at the Indoor School in Halkirk, with instruction from local BHS qualified instructors. The lessons are very relaxed and a great introduction to Riding Club activities. Whether you have never attended anything with your horse, want to take things a bit easier, have a young horse or just want a friendly, relaxed lesson with a cup of coffee and a natter afterwards, come along and give Evergreen a go!
